He moved to Mumbai after clearing an audition for a Channel V youth show. He lived in a rented flat in Oshiwara and learned to face the camera through daily work.

At first, the process felt unfamiliar. Over time, Saraf realised acting allowed him to explore emotions and perspectives beyond his own. That discovery kept him going.

A Fast Start and Early Reality Check

Saraf’s first year in the industry moved fast. He worked on two television shows, four commercials and a film. The pace gave him confidence. He believed success would follow quickly.

A film he had shot remained unreleased for over two years and was later shelved. During that period, he had stopped auditioning after advice to avoid overexposure. The calls slowed down. Work became uncertain.

Netflix’s Mismatched marked a change in Saraf’s career. Cast as Rishi, he became widely recognised among younger audiences. The series connected with viewers and ran into multiple seasons.

The role gave Saraf space to lead a story. It also brought consistency after years of scattered work.

Director Akarsh Khurana, who worked on the series, says Saraf approached the role with preparation and clarity. He notes that Saraf listens, adapts and understands what works for him.

In 2024, Saraf appeared in Ishq Vishk Rebound and Woh Bhi Din The. Both films added to his lead actor portfolio.

In 2025, he will be seen in Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, alongside Kamal Haasan. He also features in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, produced by Dharma Productions.

These projects place Saraf in varied spaces, from streaming to mainstream cinema.
