Get-A-Whey: The Guilt-Free Dessert Brand That Took Off with Shark Tank

Shark Tank India has been a game-changer for many aspiring entrepreneurs, providing them with the right mentorship, guidance, and financial backing to turn their business dreams into reality. One of the standout success stories from the show is Get-A-Whey, a brand that introduced India to protein-rich, guilt-free ice creams. Founded by Jash Shah, Pashmi Shah, and their mother, Jimmy Shah, Get-A-Whey has made a name for itself in the health-conscious dessert industry. The journey from a homegrown brand to a multi-city success is nothing short of inspiring.

A Sweet Start: The Birth of Get-A-Whey

The story of Get-A-Whey began in 2018 when Jimmy Shah, a fitness enthusiast and home chef, started experimenting with making healthier versions of ice cream. She wanted to create a dessert that would satisfy sweet cravings without compromising on health. Her children, Jash and Pashmi, recognized the potential of her recipes and saw an opportunity to introduce protein-packed, sugar-free ice creams to the Indian market. With an initial investment of ₹10 lakh from their family, they officially launched Get-A-Whey.

Their unique concept quickly gained traction among health-conscious consumers who were looking for alternatives to traditional high-sugar, high-fat ice creams.

The Shark Tank India Breakthrough

When Jash and Pashmi Shah came to Shark Tank India Season 1, they showcased their healthy and innovative ice cream company to the Sharks. Their idea impressed the Sharks, and this led to Vineeta Singh (Sugar Cosmetics CEO) and Aman Gupta (boAt Co-founder) investing ₹1 crore in the company. That was the game-changer for Get-A-Whey.

Prior to their show appearance, the business was making a revenue of ₹2.5 crore. Following the investment and country-wide popularity generated through Shark Tank, their revenue catapulted to ₹8 crore. The publicity generated by Shark Tank created a demand surge, and their ice creams started flying off shelves in several cities.

Scaling Up: From Four Cities to Forty-Five

In a recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 2, the founders of Get-A-Whey returned to share their success story. They revealed how their business had expanded exponentially, growing from just four cities to 45 cities across India. The company now operates with 160 cloud kitchens and employs over 50 people.

Their strategy was not just about expanding geographically but also about diversifying their sales channels. With Aman Gupta’s help, they established strong connections with restaurants, allowing their guilt-free desserts to become part of restaurant menus. Vineeta Singh, on the other hand, played a crucial role in helping them structure their organization efficiently.

Celebrity Endorsement and Further Investments

The success of Get-A-Whey caught the attention of Bollywood star and entrepreneur Malaika Arora Khan, who invested in the company in January 2023. She not only became an investor but also the brand ambassador, further boosting the brand’s visibility and credibility.

With the added investment and growing recognition, Get-A-Whey set ambitious expansion goals. Over the next two years, the founders aim to establish 350 cloud kitchens, making their protein-rich desserts more accessible to health-conscious consumers across India.

A Vision for the Future

Jash and Pashmi Shah have attributed a large part of their success to Shark Tank India. They feel that the guidance provided by the Sharks was as useful as the capital infusion. The mission of the company is the same—to give people a tasty, healthy dessert option in addition to a healthy lifestyle.

Through the perfect blend of innovation, strategic investment, and strong mentorship, Get-A-Whey has established itself as the market leader for health-conscious desserts. Theirs is a journey that inspires up-and-coming entrepreneurs to make their passion for business a successful reality.

Having expansion plans set in motion and an increasing client base, Get-A-Whey is poised to revolutionize how India enjoys ice cream—one guilt-free scoop at a time.
