From Marble to Mindfulness: Dr. Vijay Jain Rise as a Business Visionary and Jain Scholar

In an age where success is often measured in revenue and recognition, Dr. Vijay Jain’s journey reflects a different kind of triumph — one where spirituality, scholarship, and service go hand-in-hand with enterprise.

Born on October 21 in Beawar, Rajasthan, Dr. Vijay Jain grew up in a traditional Jain family, imbibing values of integrity, discipline, and self-reliance. These values would later define not only his career path but also the way he approached life and learning.

After excelling in academics and earning a Master of Commerce from MDS University, Ajmer, Vijay moved to Mumbai in 2000, where he entered the diamond industry. But soon, his entrepreneurial spirit called him back to work alongside his father, Shri Prakash Chand Jain, in their family’s marble business.

For eight years, the father-son duo worked tirelessly until tragedy struck in 2008 with his father’s sudden passing. “Everything changed,” Dr. Jain recalls. “The stability I once had was shaken, but it was also the moment I realized I had to find my own path.”

And that path turned out to be anything but ordinary. While others tread familiar routes, Vijay set his sights on gold imports — a niche yet challenging field. With no industry backing or financial safety net, he launched Shri Rajat Group, focusing on the import and distribution of gold coins and bars. What began as a modest effort soon grew into a global operation, earning him respect across the Indian and international bullion markets.

But even as his business soared, a deeper calling emerged.

Inspired by the Santhara debate, the recognition of Jainism as a minority religion, and guidance from Guru Rupmuniji Maharaj, Vijay felt the need to academically engage with his faith. He enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Jainology at Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, with a research focus on Jain philosophy, ethics, and ecological relevance.

“The journey wasn’t easy,” he says. “Balancing a growing business with intense academic research required every ounce of discipline and resolve I had.” Over four years, he delved into scriptures, modern interpretations, and comparative perspectives on non-violence, spirituality, and environmental harmony in Jainism.

He completed his Ph.D. with distinction, officially earning the title Dr. Vijay Jain — a moment he considers one of the proudest in his life, not for accolades, but for what it symbolized. “It was for my community, for my late father, and for every young Jain who wants to connect with their heritage in a meaningful way.”

Dr. Jain credits his success to three guiding forces — his deity Shri Nakoda Bhairav Nath, his guru Rupmuniji Maharaj, and his father Shri Prakash Chand Jain. “Their blessings and teachings continue to guide me, even today,” he reflects.

Beyond academia and trade, Dr. Jain has also ventured into film production, believing in the power of media to educate and inspire. His work in cinema aims to highlight cultural values, entrepreneurship, and untold stories from Indian society.

Passionate about giving back, he focuses on philanthropic work — especially in the areas of education for underprivileged children, women’s empowerment, and healthcare support. “Having lived through struggle, I understand the importance of support. If I can uplift even a few lives, I consider it my duty.”

While politics fascinates him, Dr. Jain is clear that he doesn’t seek a political career. “It’s a passion, not a profession,” he says, with a smile. “Leadership doesn’t need a designation.”

A strong admirer of Ratan Tata, Dr. Jain says he finds inspiration in Tata’s commitment to purpose over profit. “That’s what I aspire to — sustainable growth, ethical choices, and community impact.”

From marble tiles in Rajasthan to the gold vaults of international trade, and from academic thesis pages to cinema screens, Dr. Vijay Jain’s story is one of rare balance. He stands today not only as a business leader but also as a torchbearer of Jain philosophy and Indian values in the modern world.
