Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy, widely known as Y. S. Born on December 21, 1972, in Jammalamadugu, Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, Jagan was raised in a politically influential family. His father, Y. S. Jagan studied at Hyderabad Public School and later earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Pragathi Mahavidyalaya, Hyderabad. He married Bharathi Reddy in 1996, and the couple has two daughters.

Entry into Politics

Jagan began his political career with the Indian National Congress, actively campaigning during the 2004 state elections. In 2009, he was elected as the Member of Parliament from Kadapa, his family stronghold.

Founding of YSR Congress Party

Following the tragic death of his father in 2009, Jagan undertook the “Odarpu Yatra” (condolence tour), consoling grieving families across the state. The move, seen as defiance by the Congress high command, led to his resignation from both the party and Parliament in November 2010.
