Peeschute: How Siddhant Tawarawala is Changing Hygiene with Environmentally Friendly Urine Bags

With a portable, water-free sanitation technology, Peeschute has already generated more than 2.5 lakh units globally, including in India, the US, UK, Australia, and Canada, and is becoming one of the most innovative start-ups in the hygiene industry.

The Creation of Peeschute: Finding a Solution for Public Urination
Siddhant was inspired to create Peeschute based on his own experiences as a regular traveler. In his college days, he had a problem with the unavailability of clean public toilets, particularly on long trips. In 2017, he participated in an entrepreneurship workshop, where he resolved to come up with a practical solution.

This resulted in the creation of Peeschute—a disposable urine bag made of paper that solidifies urine immediately, converting it into an odorless, leak-free gel. It is small and convenient, being pocket-sized. The product obviates the use of conventional restrooms, and hence, it is beneficial for travelers, patients, old people, and emergency cases. It costs only ₹15 per bag, making it affordable to a large segment of consumers.

Raising Money and Scaling Up
Siddhant’s idea impressed Nidhi Prayas, an initiative by the government to help student entrepreneurs, which gave him a seed amount of ₹10 lakh. With this, he was able to create a prototype, and upon 12-14 months of research, Peeschute was launched.

The startup picked up pace in 2020, when Peeschute received its first angel funding, followed by ₹75 lakh of funding from Shark Tank India, with Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt Lifestyle, investing in the firm.

Scaling Innovation: Peeschute Baksa – A Waterless Urinal
While the urine bags were a convenient sanitation option in portable form, others found issues with privacy and disposal. In response, Siddhant brought forth Peeschute Baksa, a plug-and-play waterless urinal system that operates with motion sensors to trigger its activation when a user enters. It turns on lights and locks automatically with remote-controlled systems.

The system harvests urine in a sensor-attached bag that activates an alarm when it is 85% full, signaling the time for disposal. Peeschute Baksa reduces the need for conventional drainage, plumbing, and sewage systems by half, which saves costs significantly.

In contrast to a standard toilet, which would cost ₹2.5 lakh for installation, Peeschute Baksa can be installed for as little as ₹15,000 and only needs 10 sq. ft of area, which is a revolution for public sanitation infrastructure.

Eco-Friendly Impact and Sustainability Goals
Peeschute not only focuses on convenience and hygiene but also helps in eco-friendly waste management. The solidified urine from Peeschute bags can be used to produce organic hydrogel fertilizer, which is under investigation for application on barren farm lands.

In order to take this further, Siddhant has collaborated with EF Polymer, a Japan-incubated agri-based startup, to create efficient composting solutions for mass usage.

Government Collaborations and Future Expansion
With 7-10 employees from Jalna, Maharashtra, Peeschute is currently working hard to scale its sanitation solutions countrywide. The company has partnered with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission to deploy 1.5 lakh Peeschute Baksas in the next 3-5 years across India.

Pilot projects have already been implemented in Maharashtra’s congested markets, schools, and colleges. The company is also in talks with the Odisha government to discuss public sanitation opportunities.

A Vision for the Future: Hygiene for All
Siddhant Tawarawala sees Peeschute as something more than a product—it’s an entire sanitation solution. In the future, the startup plans to expand into green hygiene solutions, including sustainable diapers and menstrual hygiene solutions.

The business is moving towards making its products circular, with the sole aim of reusing every piece of waste produced and turning it into something valuable. Peeschute is also endeavoring to expand its operations on a global scale, riding on its existing presence in foreign markets such as the US, UK, Australia, and Canada.

Conclusion: A Game-Changer in Public Sanitation
With Peeschute and Peeschute Baksa, Siddhant Tawarawala has changed the game of sanitation access in India and globally. His low-cost, eco-friendly, and innovative solution is addressing real-world hygiene issues, making public areas cleaner, safer, and more sustainable.

As Peeschute expands, its public health, environmental protection, and sanitation innovation impacts will define the future of hygiene infrastructure globally.
