In a momentous meeting underscored by unity, purpose, and mutual respect, Fahaad Bhat—a prominent youth leader and humanitarian from Kashmir—was honored with the blessings of His Eminence Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, the Grand Mufti of India. Their conversation centered on fostering communal harmony, advancing youth empowerment, and nurturing sustainable peace across the region.
This high-level interaction brought together two influential voices—one rooted in spiritual leadership and the other in civic action. It underscored the powerful impact of shared vision and collaborative leadership in healing societal divisions and inspiring meaningful change.
At just 27 years old, Fahaad Bhat has emerged as one of the most dynamic changemakers in Jammu & Kashmir’s civil society. A native of Hyderpora, Srinagar, Bhat’s academic background includes a degree in B.LLB, which he uses as a foundation for promoting justice, human rights, and inclusive governance. His journey from a concerned young citizen to an award-winning humanitarian exemplifies the power of dedication, empathy, and purpose-driven activism.
He currently leads several impactful initiatives. As President of the Kashmir Book of Records, Bhat is committed to celebrating the extraordinary achievements of local individuals, aiming to inspire a generation of confident, purpose-driven youth. The organization (www.kashmirbookofrecords.com) documents, encourages, and recognizes talent and innovation in the region. As the Founder and President of the Being Humane Charitable Trust (www.beinghumane.in), Bhat focuses on delivering critical support to underprivileged communities in the fields of education, healthcare, and humanitarian relief. Meanwhile, in his role as Project Head of the J&K Peace Foundation (www.jkpf.org), he actively promotes interfaith harmony, educational outreach, and peacebuilding through grassroots efforts and cultural exchanges.
“It was a true honor to receive the Grand Mufti’s blessings,” said Bhat following the meeting. “We spoke about our shared responsibility to cultivate peace and guide our youth toward a future rooted in dignity, opportunity, and unity.” During their dialogue, Fahaad Bhat emphasized the need for youth-focused policies, civic engagement, and job creation—elements he views as essential pillars for long-term peace and stability in Kashmir. He stressed that the energy, potential, and dreams of the region’s youth must be harnessed through purposeful programs and inclusive leadership.
The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, lauded Bhat’s work and echoed the call for compassion, justice, and interfaith understanding as critical elements in shaping a harmonious society. As the 10th Grand Mufti of India and the first Shafi scholar from South India to hold the title, Sheikh Abubakr is a respected global figure known for his advocacy of peace, pluralism, and spiritual unity. He acknowledged Bhat’s grassroots impact and praised his dedication to the principles of equity and peace.
Under Bhat’s leadership, his three organizations operate synergistically to transform lives and build resilient communities. Through recognition of unsung heroes, rapid humanitarian response during crises, and long-term investment in social infrastructure, these initiatives have brought real change to Kashmir’s most vulnerable populations.
Bhat’s contributions have been celebrated on national and international platforms. His accolades include the International Ambassador of Peace Award from the WLFPH, the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award, the Legal Icon Award, the Corona Warrior and Frontline Warrior Awards, and an Honorary Doctorate from Tulbu World Turkish Mixed Martial Art. Other recognitions have come from esteemed organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Indian Women Association, and the China University of Herbal Medicine. Most recently, he was appointed as the Education Ambassador to India by the International Organization of Educators and Researchers Inc.
According to the Secretary of the Kashmir Book of Records, “This meeting wasn’t just symbolic. It sends a clear message: when moral leadership and grassroots action come together, meaningful change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.”
In the heart of Kashmir, Fahaad Bhat shines as a beacon of compassion and action. Through his initiatives, he has dedicated his life to uplifting local talent, empowering youth, advancing peacebuilding, and delivering essential support to those in need. Despite his growing recognition, Bhat remains grounded in humility and purpose. “It’s not about me,” he states. “It’s about us—about building a better Kashmir together.”
Fahaad Bhat is not just a social worker. He is Kashmir’s heart in action. Truly, the best.
